Jay joined ÆON Law in December 2014, where his practice focuses on patent prosecution and strategic counseling in technology areas such as enterprise software, computer security, video compression, and consumer products. Jay works with companies ranging from Fortune 500 companies to individuals and start-ups, and enjoys learning about his clients’ businesses and collaborating with them to determine how intellectual property can best be leveraged to support their broader business strategies. He also has extensive patent litigation experience, including three patent infringement jury trials.
Jay was admitted to the Patent Bar as a registered patent agent in 2004 and the Oregon State Bar in 2009. Prior to joining ÆON Law, Jay worked as a Patent Attorney at Davis Wright Tremaine in Seattle and Lane Powell and Chernoff Vilhauer in Portland. Jay earned his J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with a focus in computer architecture and digital design, from Oregon State University. Before becoming a patent agent, he worked as a Product Development Engineer for Intel Corporation.
A lifelong Pacific-Northwesterner, when he’s not working, Jay prefers to be lost in the woods with his dog.
