With experience as a patent examiner, litigator, and prosecution attorney, Ki O develops enforceable patent applications with proper consideration for claims that will be upheld against invalidity challenges.
Ki (pronounced KEY) enjoys working with research experts, using his keen eye for technical details, and learning about new science. With a degree in Chemistry and an additional interest in quantum mechanics, Ki helps clients secure patents in the Mechanical Arts, Chemical, Pharma, Healthcare, Crypto, and Electrical Engineering industries.
Ki’s vast work experience allows him to secure patents for clients that withstand litigation and post-grant challenges, are enforceable and licensable, and avoid patent office rejections. Before joining AEON Law, Ki was an examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the medical and mechanical art units. He also was a litigator in landmark IP decisions involving downloadable music files and pharmaceutical drugs. Later, he consulted with high-tech entrepreneurial companies and startups to develop their IP portfolios.
Ki engages with his clients to provide relevant legal advice. He is a patient listener who takes time to understand his clients’ goals and technology, and is highly motivated to find solutions for the highest level of patent protection.
When he’s not advocating for his clients, Ki spends time away from the office with his children or in the outdoors. He enjoys golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, and fly fishing. He’s also looking to book his next trip overseas.
